Psoriasis Action Month

Psoriasis Action Month is an awareness month to help spread awareness of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and psoriatic erythroderma to help people learn more about the conditions and find out if they might have one of the conditions. There are over 125 million people worldwide who have psoriasis and it is one of the most common autoimmune diseases in the world. While psoriasis affects mostly adults and older children, it can even occur in babies. It is a chronic, inflammatory, immune-mediated disease resulting in thick, red, scaly patches on the skin. There are five types of psoriasis, each with a different level of severity.

Psoriasis Action Month, also known as PAM, is an awareness campaign aiming to increase the knowledge and understanding of psoriasis. It is organized by the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF), a non-profit organization that provides support and information to people affected by psoriasis. During PAM each year, the NPF and its partners organize a variety of events to raise awareness of psoriasis, including conferences, seminars, and educational outreach programs.

Psoriasis is a long-term skin condition that causes red, silver, or white patches of skin to appear. These patches of skin can be found on the scalp, knees, elbows, back, and the bottom of the feet. It is a hereditary condition that is commonly found in people with a family history of psoriasis. It is also more common in people who have a history of eczema and/or asthma. However, the patches of skin can be very uncomfortable and embarrassing.

It causes these skin cells to build up rapidly on the skin surface. It is a common condition. It affects about 2% of the population. Psoriasis is not cancer. It can affect anyone. It does not affect your life expectancy.

The condition is often quite painful, especially when the skin becomes cracked and raw. Thankfully, there are a number of treatments and medicated ointments available to treat psoriasis. The most common treatment options include over-the-counter creams and lotions as well as prescription medications that you can get from your doctor. Even with these treatments, however, there is no cure for psoriasis.

What are the best home remedies for psoriasis?

Depending on the type of psoriasis you have and the severity, there are several home remedies that can help you manage this common skin disorder. These methods are not meant to treat psoriasis but can definitely help in the management of the condition. Here are some of the basic home remedies for psoriasis:

  • Aloe Vera gel is one of the most common home remedies for psoriasis. When applied to the skin, it helps in reducing inflammation and helps in the absorption of the excess oil.
  • Tea tree oil is another home remedy for psoriasis. Just apply a few drops of warm tea tree oil to the affected area and leave it for about half an hour before you wash it off.
  • Vitamin E oil is known for its moisturizing properties and helps in healing any damaged skin cells. Mixing it with some other essential oils can make a good home remedy for psoriasis.
  • Lemon juice is also known to be good for the skin and helps in lightening the skin. If you have psoriasis on your skin, rub some lemon juice on it and leave it for about ten minutes before washing it off.

What is the difference between psoriasis and eczema?

The difference between Eczema and Psoriasis is that psoriasis is a chronic, non-infectious and non-contagious (does not spread from one person to another) skin disease. It shows the part of the body affected by the disease and it can appear at any time. Eczema is an inflammatory skin problem that usually occurs in children but sometimes can continue through adulthood. People suffering from psoriasis have thick, red, silver, or brown scales that may cause itchiness and sometimes bleeding. Eczema also called atopic dermatitis that makes skin red, dry, itchy, and cracked. You can treat it by applying ointments or creams, it will dry the skin and reduce the itching but it will not treat the real problem. Wash your hands with soap and water and don’t touch your face too much.
